The GR lens embodies our distinctive optical technology, dedicated to consistently delivering superior image quality. In the GR III, a sleek optical system comprising 6 elements in 4 groups, with a focal length of 18.3 mm (approximately 28 mm in 35 mm equivalent focal length) and an aperture of F2.8, ensures precision. Meanwhile, the GR IIIx employs a newly developed optical system comprising 7 elements in 5 groups, featuring a revised focal length of 26.1 mm (approximately 40 mm in 35 mm equivalent focal length). Incorporating high-refractive index low-dispersion glass lenses and aspherical high-precision molded glass lenses meticulously positioned within the lens construction, each model's optical system is optimized to minimize optical distortion and chromatic aberration, guaranteeing exceptional sharpness. As a result, images captured with our lenses maintain sharpness and clarity throughout the entire frame, even when shooting at maximum aperture.

The detailed descriptive power of the 24.2 M large APS-C format image sensor

The GR III/GR IIIx features a high-resolution APS-C format CMOS image sensor, boasting approximately 24.24 effective megapixels. This sensor offers remarkable resolution suitable for large-sized prints, complemented by an anti-aliasing (AA) filterless design that leverages the attributes of the high-resolution lens to ensure precise detail reproduction. Furthermore, both the image sensor and lens are meticulously optimized to deliver exceptional image quality, ensuring superior performance in every capture.

Shooting at ISO 102400 is possible with our original signal processing technology

The GR III/GR IIIx incorporates a high-performance processor called the "Accelerator Unit," which plays a pivotal role in enhancing image quality. By optimizing the signal output from the image sensor before reaching the image processor, this unit effectively minimizes noise, resulting in exceptional resolution and accurate color reproduction throughout the entire sensitivity range. Additionally, its advanced processing capabilities enable shooting at ISO 102400, further expanding the creative possibilities for photographers.

3-axis, 4-step Shake Reduction for high image quality across a wide shooting range

Even during split-second snapshots, camera shake is effectively minimized to ensure sharp images. The compact body size of the GR III/GR IIIx accommodates Shake Reduction (SR) technology, which operates across three axes—yaw, pitch, and roll—to significantly reduce shake. This compensation mechanism enables up to 4 steps of shutter speed, providing enhanced stability for capturing crisp photos. (Shutter speed improvement measured in accordance with CIPA standards.)

AA filter simulator for reducing false colors and moiré thanks to Shake Reduction mechanism

Shake Reduction (SR) works in tandem with the optical anti-aliasing (AA) filter to mitigate the effects of false colors and moiré patterns. By slightly shifting the image sensor during exposure, these artifacts are suppressed, ensuring optimal image quality. Users can tailor their settings to prioritize resolution or the reduction of false colors and moiré by selecting either the [High] or [Low] effect settings. Notably, this function is accessible when using shutter speeds slower than 1/1000 second.
