Great trail camera with excellent video and photo quality. I set this up in a corner of my backyard for monitoring the nighttime wildlife in a particular corner along with intruder detection, because that fence corner has had frequent people who decide they need to take a shortcut across my property by climbing a fence that goes through private property.Everything in the front portion of the camera is great. Super easy to setup and the 3 position setup switch is easy to use with the on screen menu once you go through the manual quickly. The mounting options are excellent and useful, but everything on the battery side of the cam housing is horrible! The battery extraction requires a small tool to pry the cells out or you have to smack the cam pretty hard to eject a cell, then remove the rest after that. The battery door is also such a tight fit, you might as well keep a small pry tool in there for replacing batteries, because this cam eats low self discharge cells within a week. This is my frustration with the cam and the experience swapping batteries out all the time.I haven't tried using 8 alkalines yet, since I have so many Eneloop AA's around, but my cam in particular consumes batteries and they require charging every 5-6 days! I also do use the built in wifi and the regular transmitting probably reduces battery life by quite a bit. This cam also can run off 4 cells. I found out accidentally when I left the cam powered up and just inserted 4 cells into the lower half of the battery compartment. I'm thinking the 8 is setup for longer duration and run time, since ~12 volts would be way too much for something like this and the external power port plug also indicates a rating for 6 volts.Just plan on having a lot of trips (also easily accessible) to the cam if you decide to use rechargeable cells to power this.This is a decent camera at the current 100 price point.Pros:Wifi does work, you do need to be within range of your router, I just have this right outside my house to capture animals that come to drink at our fountain so that works fine.You can check the photos on the device, this is a nice feature.You can set a time lapse feature, which is pretty cool.Cons:It does not like my Eneloop rechargeable batteries, which is a negative. The batteries lasted about two weeks.Ignore the photos they have in the ad, seriously, do they think we believe you would get photos of zebras like that? The ones with the header and footer are like typical photos.The directions are poor.No answers to emails sent them. Returned itemThis trail camera is really quite good! First off, the camera is very nicely made and doesn't feel cheap. It's pretty easy to setup and use. In the box you get everything you need minus the 8-AA batteries and micro sdcard. It has a lot of mounting accessories and with those you can really put this just about anywhere. I really like the tree mount on this one. I haven't seen a mount like this with any trail camera until now. It does still have the strap, but the "new" mounting plate they include really is awesome!The overall quality of the images and videos is very nice - very clear and crisp both during the day and at night. There is a built in microphone and the audio quality is decent and what you would typically expect from a trail camera.Inside the camera there is a nice LCD screen where you can access the settings and change everything to your liking. You can also view your photos and videos on this LCD screen as well, so you don't need to take out the sdcard to see what you captured.This camera does have built in Wi-Fi and it works as it should. I am able to get roughly 80 to 100ft away with my S21 Ultra Android phone before it drops the connection. The built in WiFi allows you to quickly change settings and/or download the photos and videos from the camera straight to your phone, without having to be at the camera's location - you just have to be within range of the WiFi. This camera allows you to quickly turn on WiFi with the included remote.The battery life should last quite a few months, but this all depends on how much activity there is in front of the camera. It does do a good job putting the device to sleep when no activity is detected, therefore helping to conserve battery life.All things considered, this is a really nice trail camera and it's an even better deal when there is an added coupon here on Amazon. For what it is and what you get, this is a great value!This is a nice camera in a small package. The size makes it almost disappear in the woods. the picture is nice and the night vision works great. One thing that makes it nice is being able to check it with out having to pull a card out like I used to have to do with the camera this replaced. I just have to emphasize how good the pictures look. Not DSl quality obviously but they look great.If this camera had invisible flash and a faster detection it would be 5 stars.
